You might have already decided on a name for your baby or not. But one thing is certain: you don’t know if you are 100% prepared for your baby’s arrival. The time is chaotic, there’s too many things to think about and shopping for all the baby essentials sounds a little bit overwhelming. From setting up the nursery to gathering the gear for eating, sleeping and diapering.

BABY WARDROBE MUST-HAVES

Let’s be honest. Tiny baby clothes are so cute. You could easily fill up your whole wardrobe with them. But what do you really need? Here’s the baby wardrobe must-haves:
  • 4-8 pants (we suggest footies)
  • 4-8 shirts (with snaps in the torso or envelope folds at the shoulders)
  • 4-8 onesies (snaps at the crotch or envelope folds at the shoulders)
  • 4-8 one-piece pajamas
  • 1-3 sweaters or jackets (front buttoned)
  • 1-3 rompers or other dress-up outfits
  • No-scratch mittens
  • 4-7 socks or booties (shoes are unnecessary until baby starts walking)
  • 1-3 newborn hats (broad-brimmed for a summer baby, soft cap that covers ears for a winter baby)
  • Bunting bag or fleece suit for the winter
  • wearable blankets for the winter
  • Lightweight and heavy stroller blankets
  • Gentle laundry detergent
 

BABY NURSERY MUST-HAVES

We are sure you want to create a magical world for your baby’s room and you probably will. But what’s the most essential furniture and baby bedding? Here it is:
  • Crib, cradle or bassinet
  • Firm, flat mattress for the crib
  • 2-4 fitted crib sheets
  • Diaper changing table or dresser with changing pad
  • Baby monitor
  • Rocking chair or glider

  • 2 large tubes of diaper cream
  • 2-3 large boxes of disposable newborn-size diapers or 6-10 dozen cloth diapers and 6-8 diaper covers
 

BABY BATH MUST-HAVES

Now for some fun: bath time! After you get used to your extremely slippery baby and you’re positive he/she won’t fly from your hands out of the window, here’s what you will need:
  • Baby shampoo and body wash
  • 2-4 hooded baby towels
  • Soft washcloths
  • Baby bathtub
 

BABY FEEDING MUST-HAVES

Your baby is crying again? You know what’s up. It could be daunting at first because there’s a whole bunch of stuff that you will actually need to when it comes to feeding your infant. Here’s the must-haves:
  • Nipple cream (for breastfeed)
  • Milk storage bags (for breastfeed)
  • Breast pump (for breastfeed)
  • Nursing pads (for breastfeed)
  • Formula (if not nursing)
  • High chair
  • 8-10 bottles and nipples, 4 & 8 ounce
  • 4-8 burp cloths
  • 4-8 bibs
  • Bottle brush
  • Dishwasher basket for small items
  • Bottle sterilizer
  • Bottle warmer
 

BABY HEALTH MUST-HAVES

We hope not, but most likely, sooner or later, your baby is going to get sick and we don’t want you to get all crazy and overwhelmed when it’ll happen. So here’s a list of baby health must-haves to always have ready:
  • First aid kit
  • Baby thermometer
  • Baby nail clippers
  • Cradle cap brush
  • Petroleum jelly and sterile gauze
  • 4-6 pacifiers
 

BABY GEAR MUST-HAVES

Last but not least, the baby gear! When you leave home or even when you are just chilling at home, there’s some very helpful baby gear that you should purchase. You can keep your baby on our arms all day long, but a nice rest will always be very much appreciated. Here’s the must-haves:
  • Baby swing or bouncer
  • Play mat
  • Baby carrier
  • Infant car seat or convertible car seat
